The Importance of Being Earnest
July 2019
The Importance Of Being Earnest was performed at The Library Theatre on 13th July 2019.
“It’s been hilarious to work with the cast on The Importance of Being Earnest.” says Bethan Tanner, Director.
“Every rehearsal leaves us in fits of laughter not only because of the content of the play but the fun we all have with each other as well. Putting on this show is a step up for Butter Side Up but the cast have worked hard and we cannot wait to have the audience laughing along with us.”
The farcical comedy showcases the outcome from misunderstanding, a stiff British upper lip, and the combination of wit and satire. Set in late-Victorian England, Jack and Algernon both pretend to be Jacks' brother 'Ernest', a wild dandy. Humour can be found from those who know the show well, or those who are new to the works of Oscar Wilde.

Congratulation to director Bethan Tanner, who has a clear understanding of Wilde’s comedy. I regard this show as another success for Butter Side Up Theatre Company.
