Five Lesbians Eating a Quiche
March 2018
Butter Side Up Theatre Company presents 5 Lesbians Eating A Quiche By Evan Linder and Andrew Hobgood.
It is 1956 and a group of friends gather for their annual quiche breakfast. Their get together is spoiled by a communist attack on their idyllic little town which brings the world to the brink of nuclear war. The hilarity and hijinks that follow make for an evening of absurdity that will leave audiences smiling and with a changed view towards any quiche.
Audiences are welcomed to join the Susan B. Anthony Society for the Sisters of Gertrude Stein in this 90 minute piece will an all female cast. The show offers the intimacy of a small cast that allows all five ladies to showcase their comedic talents but with enough energy and laughs to fill any performance space.
Following a hugely successful run at the New York International Fringe Festival, 5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche became an award-winning cult favourite with performing arts groups across the USA and UK. In it’s first ever performance in Sheffield, this period political drama puts women in the spotlight in laugh-out-loud exaggerated scenarios.
Director, Lucy Smith-Jones says: “This production highlights women standing together and the strength of acceptance. Linder and Hobgood’s farcical romp dishes up high spirited fun for any theatre goer and we can’t wait to show audiences the journey of self-discovery whilst protecting the coveted quiche.”

Last Night I Dreamt
With flashes of John Waters: “Eggs! Eggs! EGGS!” and the Women’s Institute high on dairy: “Eggs is toast to the Lord Jesus!”, the twangy exchanges had us rolling around delightfully with mirth.
